US Catholic Sisters against Human Trafficking (forced labor or sex based) is a collaborative, faith based network that:
. offers educational programs and materials,
. supports access to survivor services, and
. engages in legislative advocacy and other work.
Talitha Kum Program, mandate of Union International Superiors General (UISG) which includes the Marianites of Holy Cross, reminds us that Jesus said, "Talitha Kum ~ Little girl, arise!" (Mark 5: 41)
- Human trafficking is a hidden aftermath of natural disasters.
- An estimated 40.3 million people are victims of modern slavery, commercial sex and forced labor, a quarter of them girls and boys, according to new global slavery statistics.
- make the business of human trafficking the opposite of what it is today: a high-risk, low profit, readily-recognizable crime.
We Marianites are inviting our family, friends, and benefactors to assist us in the effort to STOP human trafficking by lending the cause support to I Give Catholic. The expression “Talitha Kum” has the transformative power of compassion and mercy, which awakens the deep desire for dignity and life which may be asleep and injured by the many forms of exploitation.
