Celebrating 73 years of foundation, we, the monks of the Monastery of the Holy Spirit, a community of Catholic men, seek God through a common life of prayer, study, and work giving witness to Christ and the Gospel, in service to the church and the world. We belong to the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance (also known as “Trappists”) which is a monastic institute wholly ordered to contemplation. We are dedicated to the worship of God in a hidden life within the monastery leading a monastic way of life in solitude and silence, in assiduous prayer and joyful penitence as defined in our Constitutions. We are at the “the school of charity” finding the source of inspiration in the Rule of Saint Benedict. We serve the Church and the wider community through our contemplative prayer in silence and solitude, in pastoral ministry, and in hospitality to people of all faiths.
An integral part of our ministry is that of hospitality as we provide a place for all who come in search of beauty, peace, and tranquility, for retreat and spiritual renewal. Our Monastery’s Retreat House offers individuals the opportunity to get away from their hectic daily lives for a time of prayer, contemplation, and to reconnect with God. Our aging retreat house is in desperate need of an upgrade. At this time we need to replace the carpeting in the entire house. We believe that 20,000 dollars would be sufficient to cover this and some other minor upgrades. By your contribution, you join us in our work of prayer for the world and for all people of good will who look to the monastery for solace and support in their joys and sorrows.
