The purpose of the Pope Francis Hispanic Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships for Catholic Hispanic students who live in the Archdiocese of Atlanta to attend a college or university anywhere in the southeast region of the USA. Test scores and GPA will not be a factor, however, preference will be given to those Catholic Hispanic American students who actively demonstrate leadership in their parish.
Did you know that only 23 percent of Hispanic adults have at least a two-year college degree? In comparison, 33 percent of African-Americans and 47 percent of whites hold a two-year degree or better. That’s quite a difference!
Without a college degree, Hispanic young people miss out on educational and career opportunities, as well as future financial advantages. These individuals may never achieve their professional and economic goals just because college tuition isn’t affordable.
Because a college education is so important for all young people, including Hispanics, we created the Pope Francis Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
The Catholic Foundation of North Georgia serves as a catalyst for local Catholic philanthropy and Catholic legacies. As a community foundation for Catholics, we help families and individuals pass along their Catholic heritage and values for future generations.
The Foundation exists to support the ministries of the Catholic community by raising endowment funds, managing them well, and carefully distributing them to parishes, schools, and nonprofits.
