Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
Newport, TN is a community in need. We receive about 20 calls each week from people who have nowhere else to turn. After helping clients with rent and utility bills, there is little left to help the homeless. Cocke County does not have a homeless shelter. Every week we receive calls from people living in cars or staying on the streets because they lost their housing for one reason or another. Single mothers, children, the sick and elderly are among the homeless we meet. Please help us raise $6000 so that we can devote $500 each month to help the homeless with short term motel stays, food, clothing and medical care.
