The mission of the St. Romuald Interparochial School is to nurture the total development of the child in a positive environment that is supported and challenged by the Gospel message, that fosters Christian values and attitudes and that promotes excellence academically and spiritually in cooperation with the parents as the primary educators.
LADIES and GENTLEMEN:
Serving God and His children at the St. Romuald Interparochial School is the highest honor and privilege I have enjoyed in my nearly fifty years as a professional educator. Our school has existed on a wooded hillside on the north end of Hardinsburg, Kentucky for nearly two hundred years. Our mission of Faith Formation, Educational Excellence, and Servant Leadership is emphasized and realized daily and our students are dedicated to becoming champions in life.
As you prayerfully consider your participation in and commitment to #iGiveCatholic, I cannot and will not in good conscience offer you a plea for what we HAVE to have. Our school has operated during the current and past two centuries on the tightest conceivable budget with the most limited resources. We operate in three buildings on the grounds of the St. Romuald Catholic Church that were built in the 1950s and 1960s. Seventy percent of the students we serve are eligible for free and reduced breakfasts and lunches. In spite of our facilities, we have student technology that is comparable or superior to public schools in our area, due to aggressive fund-raising activities and the generosity of individual donors. Our tuition is the lowest in our diocese and America because we readily recognize our families are already making faithful and incredible sacrifices to enable our school to serve our students and our conviction that raising tuition will diminish our enrollment.
And, with the horrific destruction caused by major hurricanes, Harvey, Irma, and Maria in August and September, 2017, I truly hope that your first offers of benevolence is extended to the victims – particularly the children – in these areas. Then, if your resources permit, it is my hope that you can provide the funds that will continue to enable our school to meet its fiscal responsibilities and to serve God’s children with the passionate proficiency we execute on a daily basis.
