St. Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church, Maynardville, TN founded in 2011 proclaims the reign of God, establishes a place to worship Christ, and provides mercy to all. We aim to be a place of welcome and service. " Jesus reminds us "Go out to the highways and hedgerows and make people come in that my home may be filled." (Luke 14.23) Our patroness, Mother Teresa, says, "Not all can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."
St. Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church started in September of 2011 with a BYOC (bring your own chair) Mass in the pastor's carport. Today, just six plus years later we are in the final step of building the first Catholic Church in Union County. Our parish represents a diverse community of English and Spanish speakers. Norris Lake attacks many visitors and part time summer parishioners all who contribute to our church. Today with over 130 households we are ready for the first church. The ceremonial ground breaking took place on September 2. Many of the subcontractors are our own parishioners with construction talent and businesses. We currently are finalizing the general contractor and excavator. Then we will push the dirt and begin. Yet, we still are need of funds to reduce the size of the loan and add some of the furniture for the interior of the church. In the entrance we hope to have eight niches for important devotions to various saints. All of these hopes will come if and only if extra funds are found. We invite you to be a part of this endeavor. We are hoping to raise 25,000 dollars towards the furnishing of the interior of the church with this igivecatholic endeavor.
